Summer 2021 GenCyber Camp for High School Students!

Camp Dates: July 26-30, 2021

Location: Virtual

Program Director: Dr. Debbie Perouli

Lead Instructor: Mr. Justin Wang

Due to the generous support of the NSA/NSF GenCyber program, we will again organize a week long summer camp to introduce students at the high school level to cybersecurity. The camp will be at no cost to participants. The camp does not assume any prior computer programming knowledge, while it targets students at the beginners level on cybersecurity.

We have shifted our camp format from face-to-face to virtual for this summer. Students will be expected to participate in synchronous activities under the guidance of teaching staff. We still plan on offering many opportunities for collaboration with fellow campers. We strive to engage all students through a variety of teaching instruments with a focus on hands-on learning.

Each student will need a laptop or desktop computer with a microphone. The use of a camera will be strongly encouraged, but not required. If a student does not have a computer, we will work on loaning such a machine for the camp duration.

Priority will be given to Wisconsin residents, but we will also accept students from other states based on our capacity. Students from all types of schooling (public, private, charter, homeschooled) are welcome to apply. If you have questions, please feel free to contact me. We will continue receiving applications until all positions have been filled.

Are you a High School Teacher?

We have a position available for a high school teacher to help with the design and implementation of our camp. We are looking for an individual with experience in a K-12 setting, particularly high school teaching, who will be occupied 2-4 summer weeks. Familiarity with computer science material will be a plus. If you are interested, please email me.

Are you a Marquette Computer Science Undergrad or Graduate Student?

We are looking for several teaching assistants for our camp. If you are available for at least two summer weeks and interested, please apply to be a TA here.
